About Jade
Clarinetist, Clarinet Chronicles Translator
Jade Garcia (she/her/ella) is a clarinetist, dog mama, crafter, and lover of all things music! She discovered the clarinet in 6th-grade band class and never put it down, having studied the instrument and all things music for 13 years straight. Jade grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada with a family obsessed with music. Her parents are from the Dominican Republic, and introduced Jade early on to music that carried the island's energy: bachata and merengue were always the favorites. She loves discovering new music and you’ll often find her with headphones on. This music stayed in her heart and influenced her playing as a clarinet player through the years.

She first went to school in Boulder, Colorado at the University of Colorado before moving to Chicago, Illinois for her master’s degree where she has permanently moved since then. She learned everything she could about music and history while learning from experiences by working part-time jobs and staying involved in student organizations throughout her degrees. After graduation, Jade focused her energy on arts administration and joined the team at Chicago Musical Pathways Iniativate, a training program for young artists who are interested in careers in classical music. Using the skills that she learned from being a musician; organization, collaboration, listening, planning, and practice as just some, she helped other folks find a path in music.

Jade believes in the power of music education to make us better humans, and to teach us to take care of ourselves and others in our communities. She still plays clarinet often, finding exciting projects to contribute to and cool music to play. In her free time, she likes to go on adventures with her dog, Noodle, and her partner (and best friend!) Cristian. She loves to crochet gifts for her friends and tries her best to have as much fun as possible every day!
