About Jordan

Composer

Jordan M. Holloway (he/him) is an American composer, conductor, and violist. His music draws  from many different inspirations, including the natural beauty of his home states of Pennsylvania and Colorado, the colossal and imaginative fantasy soundscapes of media like Star Wars and The Legend of Zelda, and the current intense and outrageous political climate of the United States.

Jordan began his musical journey at age 10, when his mom made him start taking guitar lessons even though he really didn’t want to. Throughout middle school, however, he would start

to enjoy learning and taking lessons on different instruments, like the piano, trumpet, euphonium, and violin. Eventually, playing and knowing about all of these different instruments led Jordan to compose music, which he started doing at age 14.

Jordan’s composing would take him not only through high school, but also a bachelor’s and a master’s degree at the University of Colorado Boulder and Carnegie Mellon University  respectively. He loves working with solo performers and ensembles alike, and especially loves to write music for his friends.

Jordan also directs the Dad Village Symphony Orchestra, which is a remotely recorded orchestra formed out of the COVID-19 pandemic dedicated to the performance of new and/or underrepresented music. They’ve recorded four albums to date, and have premiered eleven new works by six different composers.

In his spare time, Jordan enjoys hiking, surfing, and finding. He is a big Nintendo fan and enjoys playing video games, and he indulges in Star Wars marathons probably more often than is healthy.
