About Josh
Clarinetist
Josh Goo loves to share his passion for music through energetic performances, engaging content, and thoughtful teaching. When he started playing clarinet in 5th grade, he quickly excelled to be one of the best clarinetists at school. However, when he had the opportunity to attend the Lamont Pre-College Summer Academy after his junior year of high school, he learned that there were other musicians his age that were much more skilled. That inspired Josh to start studying with Dr. Jeremey Reynolds, which led to him being first chair in the Colorado All-State Band, and eventually studying with Dr. Reynolds for his Bachelors in Clarinet Performance at the University of Denver.
While at DU, Josh also attended the Domaine Forget, Rocky Ridge, and Aspen Summer Music Festivals where he studied with some of the best clarinetists and teachers from around the world like Michael Rusinek and Charles Neidich. After his time at DU, he went on to get his Master in Clarinet Performance from Northwestern University studying with Steve Cohen, Lawrie Bloom, and Leslie Grimm.
Now he plays professionally as the Clarinetist and Artistic Director of the Nebula Ensemble, and gets to share all those years of learning with students around the world through QuickStart Clarinet. As the creator of QuickStart Clarinet, he inspires a deeper understanding of the clarinet and music in weekly video content, online courses and memberships, as well as traditional private lessons, so that we can all find more joy in music and continue to make the world more beautiful.
In addition to nerding out about clarinet and all things music, he also enjoys nerding out on video games, shows, books, and movies with his wife Hannah who he met in high school marching band, and still plays clarinet with him in their local community band.
