About Katie
Clarinetist
Katie Urrutia is a clarinetist from Baltimore, MD. She is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in music performance at Indiana University. In addition to clarinet, Katie also loves playing the bass clarinet. Katie enjoys adapting works from other instruments to perform on the bass clarinet to share the beautiful sound of the less common instrument. Aside from classical music, Katie loves watching live music and attending shows to support local artists. Her favorite genre is indie, and she is always looking to discover new bands and artists.
Outside of music, Katie likes to read, write, and workout. She enjoys philosophy and learning about the world through art. She believes in the importance of finding your voice both on and off the clarinet. Katie likes to write short poems to express herself and enjoys reading to connect with other people’s experiences. Lastly, Katie’s favorite animal is a hammerhead shark!
